Happy February!
Edison Park students have read over 68,215,365 words since the beginning of the year!! Starting in
kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They
will have read for 851 hours by 6ᵗʰ grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better
than the 90% of their peers.
My challenge to all families at EPCEA is to read each day for 20 minutes. Drop everything and READ!
Research shows reading improves the following:
*Helps in language development
*Promotes brain development
*Aids in understanding of a world outside our own
*Strengthens family relationships
*Provides endless possibilities
Let’s see if we can double our word count in AR if everyone takes time to read 20 minutes a day
from February to the end of the year. If you need help or have questions, contact Mrs. Kozlowski
our Primary Specialist or Ms. Sell our TOA. Happy Reading!!
