Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

January 1, 2021

Welcome to the first addition of the Edison Park News for the 2021 school. I hope all families had a restful and joyful holiday break with their families. We are rapidly coming to the end of quarter 2 and working to help students achieve to their highest potential. Together our teachers and staff are making sure students are doing their part to keep focus and stay engaged in their daily lessons.
Please take time each day to have your child read to you or with you. Reading has many benefits: expands vocabulary, increased memory, improves problem solving, enhances creativity, improves analytical, writing and conversational skills, reduces stress and is entertaining!! If your child has not begun to read, review their sight words and have them practice their phonics. All subject areas require students to read! Helping your child with their reading is the best gift to give them in their life!
I want to thank Mr. Dan DeMont, Vice President of Juniper Landscaping for their generous donation of $10,000 for the first phase Edison Park CEA $40,000 beautification plan for the front of the school. They did a beautiful job and is helping us to prepare for the future three other phases to beautify the landscaping throughout the campus. Dan’s son is in kindergarten and the family is a resident in the historical Edison Park neighborhood. If you would like to make a monetary donation or are able to donate needed plants to help with the next phase or phases, please contact the school for details. Stop by the front of the school on Euclid Avenue to see the amazing work of Juniper Landscaping!!
Enclosing, I am looking forward to a wonderful safe and productive 2021 with the students, families and staff at EPCEA. I am hoping we will be able to have volunteers at the school sometime soon to help continue our mission of educating our students!
Ms. Sherri Wipf

YULETIDE TALES

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been hard at work creating Edison Park’s first ever movie! Yuletide Tales will premiere later this month, and we are so excited to share it with our families! The students began the “pre-production” process back in September, brainstorming concepts for the stories and specific ideas for the script. These initial thoughts were then workshopped, refined, and expanded to create a full-length screenplay. Auditions were held, rehearsals were had, and we soon moved into the “production” phase of filmmaking. The students learned firsthand that teamwork truly does make the dream work as they experienced the many challenges and successes of the filming process. We are currently finishing up the “post-production” phase, and we can’t wait for the release!
Please remember to have your child pack a water bottle for school. Edison Park water bottles are available for purchase for $6.00. You can turn in your money to your teacher.
