Teamwork Makes the Dream Works

December 2020

“We are like a Snowflake all different in our own beautiful way.”

Welcome to the last newsletter of 2020!!! Yippee!! All classrooms are working diligently to meet goals for their students. I want to encourage all students to read every day since reading is an essential skill in our daily lives. I also want to encourage parents to work with their child on basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) as this will assist them as they move into more complex mathematical problems during the school year.

Thank you to all the families which helped our PTA obtain their Move-A-Thon goal of over $12,000!!!! It was an amazing fun day! Thank you to our wonderful PTA for all the nice prizes for the students, classrooms and staff! Next year will be even better!

Our first Annual Turkey Trot was a big hit, too!  Thank you to Coach Short and his helpers to make it a fun run for all students. Local businesses were able to make donations for the top 3 places for each grade level which made a nice surprise for families.

The holiday time is a special time for family and friends. I hope you will take time to celebrate the holidays in a safe way. I am honored and thankful to be part of the Edison Park family and I look forward to wonderful 2021 school year with you and your children!

Happy Holiday,

Ms. S. Wipf

3rd Grade!  We are looking forward to spending the last few weeks of 2020 together and can’t wait for all of the fun holiday activities and memories we will make with our friends.
For our culture unit, we will travel around the world to learn about different cultures and their special holiday traditions. In math, we are finishing up our multiplication unit and excited to begin learning division! “My favorite part about multiplication were all the challenges and tricky problems that we solved. We made it more fun by playing games while learning.” -Lynden P. This month we will continue to work on reading comprehension and strategies in ELA and focus on poetry before the New Year. Over the holiday break, we encourage you to give the gift of reading by listening to or reading with your child. Our third graders recommend two of their favorite read alouds, The Great Spruce by John Duvall, a fun story about a boy and his love for his special tree and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, a heartwarming story that teaches the importance of love.

“UPCOMING EVENTS” Our 3rd grade Holiday Book Exchange will be Friday, December 18th. We would love to have all books brought in by Thursday, December 17th so they can be quarantined, leveled, wrapped, and ready to go home with another 3rd grader before break! Please see your child’s planner for more details.
